MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — The annual Mystic Blues Festival is coming up on the last weekend in June. Singer, songwriter, member of the Saturday Night Live Band, and Beehive Queen Christine Ohlman will be the finale of the event at the Mystic Shipyard.
“This year we have, in addition to the Knickerboker All Stars with Christine doing the finale, James Montgomery is also going to be doing a set with the Knickerboker All Stars. He’s a blues harp master,” said festival founder Chris Leigh. “We also have Greg Piccolo who’s a founder of Room Full of Blues, a friend of mine, and we have Paul Gabriel from Connecticut.”
“Mystic and that quadrant of Connecticut, that southeastern quadrant that borders Rhode Island, has been the recipient of the unbelievable scene in Rhode Island that really started in the 70’s with bands like the fabulous Thunedrbirds that came out of Texas, but really made Rhode Island their second home,” said Ohlman. “The original owner of the Knick is a Texan, the Knickerboker, and the iconic band Room Full of Blues.”
Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Center For Hospice Care, which is so important for families in their time of need.
