Man dies after car veers off road outside Hartford

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (AP) — A man is dead after the car he was driving outside Hartford veered off the road, hit a mailbox and struck a tree.

Police tell the Record-Journal (http://bit.ly/1BhJvVX) Bruce Belanger was driving north on Mount Vernon Road Tuesday in Southington when his 2003 Chevrolet Impala careened off the road.

The Southington Fire Department arrived and treated Belanger before he was taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial.

He died at the hospital.
