Southington police investigating fatal crash

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– The Southington Police Department is currently investigating a fatal crash from Tuesday evening.

According to police, officers responded to a one car crash at 845 Mount Vernon Road shortly before 5.

An investigation by police found that the driver, 52 year old Bruce Belanger, was driving north when he veered off the road and struck a mail box. Police say the car continued through the front yard of a home on Mount Vernon Road and struck a tree in the front yard of a neighboring home.

The Southington Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after the crash to provide medical treatment to Belanger. He was later transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
