Felon charged in 2014 New Haven triple shooting that killed teen

NEW HAVEN, Conn (WTNH) — A felon has been arrested for allegedly shooting three people, one fatally, in New Haven on August 8, 2014.

Police say they obtained an arrest warrant 37-year-old Lamont Edwards on Wednesday. He is already behind bars on unrelated charges.

According to officials, Edwards shot and killed 15-year-old Jacob Craggett near the intersection of Vernon Street and Davenport Avenue. They say 24-year-olds Jacob Craggett and Timothy Jones were also shot, but survived, and Edwards attempted to shoot a fourth person.

Edwards is charged with murder, two counts of first-degree assault, criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, and criminal possession of a firearm. He is being held on $2 million bond.

The felon has been convicted of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and many drug crimes, according to police.

Authorities say they expect to make another arrest in this case.
