Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team releases harp seal

MYSTIC, Conn (WTNH) — Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team released a harp seal at a Rhode Island beach Thursday morning.

Wasabi, a one- to two-year-old female harp seal, was released at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Wasabi was previously rescued river side in Ledyard on April 19, suffering dehydration and pneumonia. Mystic officials say she also needed surgery on her stomach, which was impacted by a rock.

Fully recovered, Wasabi made her way back into her natural habitat with the help of Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team.
