CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) — It was a special day Tuesday for some military Moms at the Travelers Championship golf tournament. Forty military wives who are either expecting or recently had a child were the guests of honor for Operation Shower.
The mothers were showered with gifts from local and national sponsors. Along with the gifts, the women said it was great to spend time with others who are sharing their family experience. One of the women at the shower was Amy Tetreault, who’s husband has been a submariner for nine years.
“I met a whole bunch of great people in the same situation as I am. All new babies. a lot of their husbands are gone. Its nice to have somebody who actually knows what you are going through and be able to relate to your everyday struggles that normal people don’t understand with husbands who work 9 to 5 its very different” Tetreault said.
The event was hosted by News 8’s Marysol Castro. Operation Shower started eight years ago with a card-sending campaign to military moms who are expecting.
