DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Danbury man is accused of leaving three children alone in a car while he went into a bar Sunday night.
Police say 40-year-old Edgar Hernandez left a four-month-old, eight-year-old, and nine-year-old in the running car while he went into the Copacabana around 11 p.m. They say officers smelled alcohol on Hernandez, but he told them he only stopped for two minutes to collect money. Officials say a witness helped them determine Hernandez was in the bar for more than 10 minutes.
Hernandez is charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor, three counts of leaving a child under 12-years old unsupervised, and interfering with police. He was released on $2,500 bond and is due in Danbury Superior Court on July 1.
