Wallingford convenience store owner fights robber

WALLINGFORD, Conn (WTNH) — Wallingford police are investigating a robbery that turned into a violent fight on Tuesday morning.

At 5:18 AM, a black male broke into the front door of the convenience store located at 44 Center Street in Wallingford. The owner of the store confronted the man, causing a fight to break out between them.

The fight continued out of the store and onto the sidewalk on Center Street. At one point during the struggle, the suspect was eventually able to break free and flee from the scene.

Police tell News 8 that the store owner received minor injuries, and was treated at the scene. The suspect, however, was gone by the time Wallingford officers arrived. Detectives said it has not yet been determined if anything was stolen from the store.
