Milford man sleeps while child left in stroller

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A Milford man was arrested Tuesday in West Haven after falling asleep on the street with a child in a stroller.

According to the police, officers were sent out at the area of 764 Campbell Avenue after receiving several calls about the man.

When officers arrived, they found 52 year old Harry Apuzzo. After officer woke Apuzzo up, he told officers that he and his daughter were at the beach all day.

Police say officers smelled alcohol on Apuzzo’s breath while speaking to him. Officers were told by several witnesses that they saw Apuzzo stumbling several times while pushing the stroller and falling asleep on the curb.

According to police, officers found containers of alcohol on Apuzzo. The child was transported to the hospital for possible dehydration, and a family member was contacted to care for the child.

Apuzzo was arrested for breach of peace and risk of injury to a child.
