WESTFIELD, New Jersey (WTNH)–  A New Jersey family’s dream home is being targeted by an alleged stalker who calls himself “The Watcher” and leaves threatening notes.

ABC News reports that the mysterious stalker was the topic of a town meeting on Tuesday night in the upscale community of Westfield, New Jersey.  While the mayor, Andy Skibitsky, told ABC that police have “conducted an exhaustive investigation” when this was first reported over a year ago, “such efforts, however, have not yielded information leading to charges being filed and, therefore, this case is pending introduction of any new evidence.”

The family who owns the home, which includes three children, is reportedly so terrified that they want their identities protected and they won’t even move in to the home being “watched.”

According to Courthouse News Service, three days after the family bought the $1.3 million home last June, they started to receive the threatening letters. In the letters, “The Watcher” wrote things like that the home “has been the subject of my family for decades” and that he was “put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming.” Another letter also read ” Why are you here? I will find out,”  and “I asked the [previous owners] to bring me young blood,” and wrote that “once I know their names, I will call to them and draw them too [sic] me.”

The letters continued to threaten, with “The Watcher” also writing “it will help me to know who is in which bedroom, then I can plan better” and that “all of the windows and doors … allow me to watch you and track you as you move through the house.”

The family is now suing the home’s previous owners because they claim that the seller allegedly received one of the threatening letters a week before the closing and that they should have told them about it.

A report says they are seeking damages for fraud and breach of contract because they believe “The Watcher” affects the value of the home and they have been consumed by stress and fear of what the stalker will do.

The mayor asked for the public’s help in identifying “The Watcher” so the town can finally put an end to the mystery.
