HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman and dog are dead and an elderly man badly burned after a house fire in Hartford on Saturday morning, officials say.
According to authorities, flames were showing from the second and third floors of 64 Oakland Terrace when firefighters arrived around 11:40 a.m.
Fire officials say the female victim, whose identity has not been released, was found on the third floor and died at the scene. They say the elderly second-floor tenant, whose dog was killed, was originally taken to St. Francis Hospital, but has been transferred to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital where he is in critical condition.
Hartford Fire Captain Helene Lynch says the fire has been ruled accidental and electrical in nature. The fire department is still investigating the blaze.
