HAMDEN, Conn (WTNH) — A New Haven man is facing several charges after attempting to rob a Hamden clothing store Saturday night.

According to Hamden police, Michael Barlowski, 24, of New Haven, entered the Bon Ton store on Dixwell Avenue concealing a crossbar. Store employees observed him disassembling the wires of a cash register, then taking the cash register itself and running towards the front of the store.

As store security approached Barlowski, he attempted to shatter the storefront window with the crossbar. He then broke out in a fight with store security officers.

Hamden police arrived on the scene and promptly arrested Barlowski, charging him with multiple charges including robbery, assault, and criminal mischief. He was detained on a $100,000.00 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on July 10th.
