Woman on flight out of Bradley International struck by lightning

COLUMBIA, S.C., (WTNH) — A woman is in stable condition after being struck by lightning on the tarmac at Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Saturday. The woman was on an American Airlines flight out of Bradley International Airport, bound for Charlotte, North Carolina, when it was diverted to Columbia, South Carolina because of weather.

As she and the other passengers were walking across the tarmac, the woman was struck by lightning. She was immediately taken to the hospital.

The woman is in stable condition. No word on her name.
