In the Bender Kitchen: Patriotic Pie for the Fourth of July!

WTNH– Marysol joins Heide Lang from the Fig Cooking School to show us how to make the perfect blueberry pie for your fourth of July party. Independence day is just around the corner and it’s getting hot outside. Everyone looking for an easy dessert that doesn’t require the stove on for long. Summer means the living is easy and we want easy recipes as well. This blueberry pie takes 15 minutes to make and you can buy a ready-made pie crust or use pastry shells. Two things make this pie exceptional: the lime juice and zest mixed in with the limes, and putting whipped cream on the bottom of the pie crust (after the crust is baked). Pie becomes a 4th of July crowd pleaser with the addition of a few strawberries. This is actually one my favorite pies of all times, and Everyone loves it!

The Fig Cooking School, LLC is an exciting gourmet cooking school that teaches home cooks how to prepare fabulous, interesting food without spending hours in the kitchen. Their mission at Fig is to “find your inner gourmet.” Their classes are taught with only the finest ingredients and feature foods that are seasonal, local and organic often purchased from nearby Connecticut farms. They offer a wide array of classes ranging from basic chicken to more challenging dishes like steak au poivre.
