Man charged after leaving children in hot car in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Three boys ages three-months to three-years old are okay after they were left in a locked car with a window barely open for about 30 minutes Tuesday morning, New Haven officials say.

According to authorities, a man and a woman were interviewing for jobs while the car was parked in the New Haven Works parking lot on Ella Grasso Boulevard. A witness, who does not want to be identified, recalls seeing the children screaming and crying in the back seat of the car, and called police.

The man and woman drove off, but were pulled over. The man was then arrested and is charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor. His name has not been released.

Officials say the children were sent to the hospital, treated, and then released.
