WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — West Haven, Hamden, Milford, Orange, and North Branford police are on high alert after a series of burglaries in their towns.
Officials say suspects are entering homes through unlocked windows while residents sleep in the early morning hours. Car keys, purses, and laptops have been stolen before the suspect(s) leave through the same window and flee in a victim’s car.
According to authorities, suspects entered a Captain Thomas Boulevard home through a kitchen window on Monday and stole two cars. They say one of the cars was later recovered at a Milford burglary on Tuesday.
The resident of a Maple Road home in West Haven reported seeing four men running towards Platt Avenue after hearing his dogs bark at 2:15 Monday morning. Police say a vehicle stolen in a Hamden burglary was recovered in that area.
Officials encourage residents to be vigilant of their surroundings, lock all doors and first-floor windows, and contact the police if they see anything out of the ordinary.
