String of burglaries continue in Orange neighborhood

ORANGE, Conn (WTNH) — Police in Orange are investigating a residential burglary in the Indian River neighborhood that took place overnight.

Police said the burglar gained entry through an unlocked door. Additionally, several unlocked cars had valuables taken and mail was stolen from a residential mailbox nearby.

This is the second such burglary in recent weeks. In the previous incident, the suspects cut a screen to gain access through an unlocked window. In both incidents, small electronics and a woman’s handbag were taken.

Several items were recovered by police during a neighborhood canvas.

Police used the CTAlert system to notify area residents to remain diligent and to report suspicious activity as soon as possible.

Police suggest residents remove valuables and secure their cars during the overnight hours, and to close and lock windows and doors, especially on the ground floor of homes.
