Hartford police seize $5,000 worth of illegal fireworks being sold from van

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are obtaining an arrest warrant for a 35-year-old East Hartford man suspected of selling illegal fireworks out of a van in Hartford.

Officers responded to 592 Garden Street around 8 p.m. Friday and seized about $5,000 worth of illegal fireworks from the van, but they couldn’t find the suspect at the scene. He was identified later through police investigation.

According to officials, the illegal fireworks were in plain sight inside the van. Police seized a total of 179 different pieces.
