WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Willimantic Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a bar Sunday morning.
Police responded to Tony’s Pub at 117 Main Street around 2:00 a.m. for a reported shooting. While on the way to the scene, police say they received several other 911 calls of shots being fired on Brook Street, the adjacent street to the bar.
When they arrived, police say they saw a man walking on Brook Street with a pistol in his hand. When they approached the man, he ran off.
After a short foot chase, police stopped the man in a wooded area off of Chapman Street.
Police began a search of the area where they found a handgun that had been dropped during the chase.
According to police, Montreece Prather, 26, of Willimantic, was taken into custody and is being held on a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
Prather is being charged with second degree breach of peace, first degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit, interfering with the police, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
He is due in Danielson Superior Court tomorrow.
Willimantic Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact the police department. All calls will be kept confidential.
