HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Department of Labor is planning to lay off employees due to a federal budget shortfalls. Federal funding fell about $28 million for 2015, and is expected to be $32 million short in 2016.

About 700 of the agency’s 800 employees are paid with federal dollars. The Department of Labor’s Communications Director says they are looking at all options to cut costs, like closing or consolidating offices, to keep as many federally funded jobs as possible.

The number of people that will be laid off has not been determined.
