WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) — A 62-year-old woman who alleged she was racially profiled by a Connecticut state trooper during a traffic stop has been charged with filing a false report.
Police say Minati Roychoudhuri (roy-SHAU’-duh-ree) of Storrs was ticketed in Wethersfield on May 9 after a trooper observed her making an unsafe lane change.
Police say Roychoudhuri wrote a letter to the state’s Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection alleging she was a victim of racial profiling.
State police say their Internal Affairs office investigated and determined that statements contained in her letter were false.
Roychoudhuri turned herself in Tuesday to face a charge of filing a false statement and was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
She did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment from The Associated Press.
