HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A three-story building in Hartford will be torn down after a two-alarm fire badly damaged it Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

Officials say flames broke out at 310 Franklin Avenue, which housed Lucy’s Fashion, One Direction Market, and four apartments, around 12:25 p.m. They say the fire caused a partial roof collapse and compromised exterior brick walls.

According to officials, a 22-year-old man was taken to Hartford Hospital for smoke inhalation and evaluation.

The Hartford Fire Department says early reports show two families have been displaced and two apartments may have been vacant.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
