Manchester police searching for grocery store purse thief

MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — Manchester police are asking the public for help in identifying a women they say stole a purse from a customer at a grocery store on Spencer street on July 26th.

Officers said the theft took place at the Shop Rite store at 214 Spencer Street on July 26th just after 4:45 p.m. Police described the suspect as a heavy-set black female, wearing a pink hospital type shirt, and black pants.

According to store officials, she can be seen on surveillance video taking another woman’s purse and walking out of the store. Credit cards from the victim’s purse were later used at multiple stores, including Lowes, Target, and Wal-Mart.
