East Hartford man killed in crash on Route 2 West

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An 18-year-old East Hartford man was killed in a crash that closed part of Route 2 in town on Thursday morning.

State police say Erik Blades hit a tree after losing control near exit 5D around 5:30 a.m. They say the Christine Drive man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed the westbound side of the highway between exits 8 and 5D while crews were on the scene. The highway has since reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is asked to call Trooper Gregor at (860) 534-1000.
