East Hartford man killed in Route 2 crash

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Hartford man is dead after a one-car crash that closed Route 2 in town around 10:15 p.m. Friday. The road has since reopened.

State police say 20-year-old Brandon Gothberg was driving east on Route 2 near exit 5B when he lost control, hit a barrier, and then an overhead traffic sign support. The Crescent Drive man was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the crash.

The driver, who was the only person in the car, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
