Milford man arrested after allegedly firing gun into air

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Milford man was arrested after firing his licensed gun into the air around 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Police say a person standing in the road near High Street and West Main Street waved his arms for 30-year-old Kenneth Caluori to stop his car. They say the person then tried getting the Golden Hill Street man to fight and approached his car, concealing his hands behind his back as if he had a weapon. According to authorities, Caluori then pulled out a handgun, which he has a permit to carry, and fired into the air to stop the person from coming closer. They say the person then ran away.

According to officials, the person did not have a weapon when officers found him. They say he was taken to a hospital.

Caluori is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, and carrying a firearm while under the influence after police say he admitted to having a beer earlier in the night. He was released on a promise to appear in court on September 8.
