New Haven Police to Test Use of Body Cameras

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Starting in September, New Haven police will start testing out body cameras.

The New Haven Police Department will spend 90 days testing out different options before selecting a style to use on a permanent basis. New Haven will join other departments throughout the state, such as Hamden and Norwalk, that have started outfitting their officers with body cameras.

Many departments across the country have been putting cameras on their officers to help improve relations and trust between the police and the public.
