CT man killed in RI bike race

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WTNH) – An elderly Connecticut man is dead after an accident during a weekend bike race in Rhode Island.  The 80 year old man who’s name has not yet been released, was competing in a North East Master Cycling Association event on Saturday in Charlestown, RI.  Just after noon police got a 911 call about a biker being hit by a car.  When police got there they found the 80 year old with a severe head injury.  Police say he apparently ran his bike into the back of a parked pickup truck.  There were two people in the truck at the time of the accident.  They were not hurt.

Police are still investigating. They haven not released the name or hometown of the victim pending notification of family.
