State Police respond to Norwich courthouse evacuation


NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — State and Norwich police swept the Norwich Courthouse with canine officers after a possible bomb threat was reported Monday afternoon.

A News 8 viewer emailed via Report-It that they believe the courthouse was evacuated due to a bomb threat, but no official details have been released by police. According to the News 8 viewer, no one was allowed back into the courthouse for about two hours, and travel on the streets in the vicinity of the courthouse was limited.

State Police confirmed they were on the scene along with Norwich officers, where they are searched the building with canines. The building was declared clear around 2:00 p.m.

Officials did not release any further details explaining what caused the evacuation.
