(WTNH)– A 15-year-old boy going by the name “Deez Nuts” has entered the presidential race and is already polling at 9% in North Carolina.

Nuts, also known as Brady Olson, from Wallingford, Iowa, is running as an Independent and entered the race last month.

Nuts is not only trending worldwide for his interesting name, but for being the choice for 9% of those surveyed in North Carolina by Public Policy Polling, when competing with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. He was also the choice for 8% in Minnesota and 7% in Iowa.

The Washington Times reports that while Nuts has filed his candidacy, he has not yet filed any campaign contribution with the Federal Election Commission.

So what inspired this sophomore in high school to run for President of the United States?

He told The Daily Beast, “when I heard about the Limberbutt McCubbins story, I realized I could. The next step is to get some party nominations, like the Minnesota Independence Party or the Modern Whig Party. It would also be great to find a VP, preferably McCubbins because the Nuts/McCubbins ticket sounds amazing.”

McCubbins is a cat from Kentucky who file for candidacy as a Democrat or as he put “Demo-cat,” according to NPR.

While Nuts is making a name for himself as a presidential candidate, he still faces some challenges with the U.S. Constitution stipulating that you must be at least 35-year-old to run for president.
