6-year-old girl hit by car in Ansonia dies

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — A six-year-old Ansonia girl is dead after being hit by a car in town around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, police say.

According to authorities, the child was hit on Ford Street near Hughes Circle when a small plastic wagon she was in somehow rolled into the road. They she was taken to Griffin Hospital with serious injuries and later died.

Officials say the girl was visiting a friend when she was hit. Her identity has not been released.

No charges have been filed against the 54-year-old Ansonia man who hit her. His name and address are being withheld.

The accident is still under investigation.
