Manchester man hit by car in Vernon after altercation

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Manchester man was hit by a car in Vernon early Thursday morning.

Police say the 31-year-old, whose identity has not been released, was hit on Orchard Street near Union Street around 3:10 a.m. They say he was taken to Rockville General Hospital, then transferred to Hartford Hospital where he is in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

According to authorities, the victim was fleeing an altercation on West Main Street when he was struck. They say the altercation began in an apartment, and several people were involved when it moved into the street. A vehicle’s tires were slashed during the altercation, officials say.

The victim’s connection to the altercation is not clear.

No arrests have been made.
