Scooter crash under investigation in Willimantic

WILLMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– Willimantic officers are currently investigating a scooter crash that occurred Wednesday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Keating Street and Holbrook Avenue shortly before 8:30 for the reported accident.

Police say the operator, a 22 year old man, failed to negotiate a turn, leading up to the crash. He was transported to Windham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed the roadway for a short time for the investigation. Police tell News 8 that charges for the operator are coming.

“This is the second serious scooter crash this month within the city.  We are warning unlicensed operators of the dangers surrounding the operation of scooters.” Corporal Stan Parizo, Jr. said. If you have any information on this crash, you are asked to call police at 860-465-3135.
