Top Labor Day Trips and Activities

(WTNH) – It seems like just yesterday we were all begrudgingly bundling up and wishing for warmer temperatures.  Now, we’re preparing for Summer’s last stand.  The website TripAdvisor is saying goodbye to Summer by listing the most popular Labor Day activities and destinations.
TripAdvisor asked 2,500 people about their Labor Day plans.  They found that 41% of people are hitting the road this year.  That’s up 11% from last year.
If you’re planning to travel on Friday, September 4th, bring lots of activities for the kids because that’s when most people will be heading out.  The majority of travelers plan to return home on Tuesday, September 8th.  So where is everyone going?  TripAdvisor found the top destinations include:
1.            Enjoying the beach or ocean
2.            City getaway
3.            Lake escape
4.            Visiting a national park
5.            Resort retreat
And while they’re on vacation, those surveyed said they like to…
1.            Go shopping
2.            Attend a cookout
3.            Visit a park or national park
4.            Take a sightseeing tour
5.            Go hiking
