Fairfield police arrest man who stole ribs from grocery store

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Fairfield police arrested a man after he stole robs, soda and a flashlight from the Stop & Shop at 760 Villa Ave at 9:15 a.m Tuesday morning.

Michael Kondrat of Fairfield remains in custody on a court issued bond of $75,000.

After his theft at the grocery store, Kondrat left in a white car that was spotted by Fairfield police. He engaged police in a pursuit, which was terminated when he entered I-95 southbound at exit 24. State police then continued a slow speed chase where Kondrat was going about 30 mph, according to police. Troopers were able to box him in at exit 17 and took him into custody.

There were two warrants out for Kondrat’s arrest from Trumbull and Stratford Police for failure to appear. Fairfield Police charged him for engaging police in pursuit and larceny sixth-degree. State Police also charged him for engaging police in pursuit.
