WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Two construction workers were injured after a scaffold they were using collapsed in Westport on Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to the Bedford Square construction site at 52 Post Road East just after 3:30 p.m. for two injured workers.
Officials say the workers were getting setup on the second floor when the scaffold they were using tipped over. They say one worker was on the scaffold and the other was hit by it. Both suffered non-life threatening leg injuries.
Firefighters used ropes and rigging to set up a lowering system to remove the workers from the second floor. Both workers were taken to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS.
OSHA was notified and safety officers from the two construction companies working on the project responded to investigate the accident.
