2 seriously injured in head-on crash in Ledyard

LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two people were seriously injured in a head-on accident in Ledyard on Wednesday evening.

Police say 72-year-old Arthur Lipman, of Ledyard, was traveling on Whalehead Road near Sandy Hollow Road when he crossed the center line and collided with 50-year-old Marianne Brumfield, of Gales Ferry.

The Ash Drive woman was taken to Backus Hospital, then flown to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar. Her condition is not known.

The Silas Deane Road man was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where he was in good condition on Thursday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation.
