Hit and run victim recovering, Shelton Police continue investigation

Shelton Police searching for driver of vehicle believed to be near scene of hit and run incident on Aug 14.

SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in Shelton are in the area of Howe Ave and Bridge St tonight looking to speak with motorists in the checkpoint area that may have been present at the time of the hit and run accident there on Aug 14 that sent a bicyclist to the hospital.

Police and EMS responded to the intersection that night after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting an accident with injuries between a vehicle and a bicyclist.

The bicyclist, who is a 49-year-old resident of Milford, is still receiving treatment at the hospital for injuries he sustained.

Witnesses reported that the bicyclist was struck by a black vehicle which was traveling south on Howe Ave and that the vehicle fled the scene over the Derby Shelton Bridge. The Shelton Police Department Traffic Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle’s owner or operator as it is also believed to be present at the time of the accident.
