Officials: South Windsor church fire ruled arson

Fire officials are investigating a fire that broke out in a South Windsor church Saturday morning.

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH)– Police officers in South Windsor are currently searching for someone who set a church office and storage area on fire earlier this month.

According to the police department, officers were told about a fire at the St. Peters Episcopal Church on Sand Hill Road around 7:15 AM on August 1. Crews were able to knock down the fire in about 30 minutes.

The South Windsor fire marshal and South Windsor police fire investigator determined the fire was intentionally set during their investigation. Authorities believe this fire may be connected to a criminal mischief incident that occurred a few days earlier. Gas cans were poured out and a tractor was damaged in that case.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact South Windsor police at 860-644-2551.
