Waterbury woman charged with unemployment fraud

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) – A Waterbury woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with illegally collecting over $12,000 in unemployment compensation benefits.

Latisha Broadnax, 37 of 29 High View Street, was charged with one count each of first-degree larceny and unemployment compensation fraud.

According to the arrest warrant, Broadnax collected approximately $12,103 in unemployment benefits from September 2012 through February 2014. Broadnax collected the benefits while she was employed.

Broadnax was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 1.

The case is being prosecuted by the Unemployment Compensation Fraud Unit.
