WestFest brings UNH students, West Haven community together

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The University of New Haven and the city of West Haven came together Saturday for WestFest, which brings students and the community together.

Local businesses and artists had tables set up to show students what the community has to offer. Student groups also had tables set up where they could meet with people in the community.
Organizers say they hope the festival will help freshmen as well as returning students get to know West Haven a bit better.

“A lot of the students don’t know what’s around, and this is the city that they call their home for four years. We really want them to know a lot about where they live and be closely knit with the community that they’re a part of,” said WestFest coordinator Sabrina Schell.

UNH students and local kids performed everything from dance routines to live music at the festival.
