SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Shelton police have arrested a woman in connection with an animal cruelty case dating back to last winter.  Charlotte D’Amico, 31, of Ansonia has been charged with five counts of Cruelty to Animals.

The original complaint against D’Amico was filed back in January, over the wellbeing of animals in a home on Soundview Ave. in Shelton.  Animal Control officers say they found two dogs and two cats living in unsanitary conditions, without food, water or heat.  They also found a dead puppy in the home.

Police determined that D’Amico had lived in the home but moved and left the animals behind.  The four surviving animals were brought to the Shelton Animal Shelter in January.  All have since been adopted.

D’Amico is out on $2,500 bond and is due back in court on September 11th.
