MONROE, Conn. (WTNH) — Two New York women are facing multiple charges after a police investigation determined they were performing sexual acts at a Monroe day spa.
Monroe officers have been conducting a yearlong investigation into prostitution at multiple massage parlors in town. On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at the Red Wine Day Spa on Route 25; seizing business records, equipment used in connection with prostitution, over $2,800 in cash, and all video taken by the spa’s video recording systems. Police also recovered 7.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with a smoking pipe.
Officers arrested 53-year-old Shunna Zhang, of Flushing, New York. She was charged with prostitution, and unlicensed practice of massage therapy. She posted a $1,500 bond, and is due in court on September 9th.
Police also arrested 41-year-old Lan Ying Jin, also of Flushing, New York. She was charged with unlicensed practice of massage therapy, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She posted a $1,500 bond, and is also due in court on September 9th.
Monroe officers said they are continuing to review the parlor’s video recordings and business records to possibly identify additional prostitutes and patrons.
