Connecticut sending crews to help in wildfires

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced that they are sending a 20 person fire crew to help battle wildfires raging in Montana.

The crew will consist of thirteen local fire fighters and 7 DEEP staff members. They are scheduled to arrive in Montana on Thursday.

The DEEP crew will be working in western Montana which is currently experiencing a record breaking wildfire season. Over eight million acres of forest land nationwide has burned because of wildfires in 2015.

This isn’t the first Connecticut crew sent to help fight the fires out west. On August 4th, another crew was dispatched to California to help douse fires that burned nearly 43,000 acres.
