Habitat for Humanity helps local family

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Members of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County spent Wednesday building a home for a local family.

Volunteers spent the day building and raising the wall of the “Pope Francis House.” When it’s finished, a local family, who is active in the nearby Saint Augustine Cathedral Parish, will move into.

“It was our answered prayer. We never thought we would be able to do this after a long period of health crisis. It’s happening and we are very thankful,” said future homeowner, Maggie Zepeda.

Habitat families invest 500 hours of sweat equity into building their homes. They also purchase their homes at cost and repay a zero percent interest loan
