HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A West Haven man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a Pearl Avenue home.
Officers were called to the residence after the homeowner saw a light shining into his bedroom at 6:00 Thursday morning. As he went to his living room, he noticed an individual jumping out of the living room window.
Investigators saw Quinten Shaw on his bicycle on Dixwell Avenue. He then proceeded to drop his bike and led police on a foot chase. He was apprehended in the vicinity of Morse and Columbus Street and arrested.
Shaw was in possession of stolen property which had been taken from another Pearl Avenue residence.
A further investigation discovered that Shaw forced himself into that home and stolen electronic equipment from the living room. The residents of that home were asleep while the burglary was taking place.
Shaw was placed under arrest and charged with burglary in the first, second, and third degree as well as 2 counts of larceny in the sixth degree and interfering with a police officer. He has also been charged with violation of probation from an outstanding arrest warrant.
Shaw was detained on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Court on Sept. 17.
