Police investigating assault in East Hartford commuter lot


EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– State troopers are currently investigating an overnight assault and vehicle theft at a commuter lot in East Hartford Thursday morning.

According to the state police, troopers were dispatched to the Econo Lodge on Main Street for a reported assault. Officers from the East Hartford Police Department initially responded, but their investigation found the assault occurred at the exit 90 commuter lot off of Route 15.

Troopers located the victim after arriving on the scene. Troopers also started a search for other possible victims, but that search turned out negative. The one female victim was sent to Manchester Hospital for evaluation of her injuries.

Troopers say the suspect stolen the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene. East Hartford officers attempted to stop the suspect. The suspect crashed the vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Main Street and McKee Street. Officers conducted a search with a K-9 unit, but have been unable to locate the suspect.

The commuter lot has been closed throughout the investigation. We will update this story as we get more information.
