MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — A 23-year-old man accused of killing his mother in Connecticut last year will face trial this fall.
Timothy Granata, of Orange, is charged with murder in the beating death of 58-year-old Dr. Claudia Granata at their home in July 2014. Police said she had been struck on her head, neck, torso and extremities with blunt and sharp objects.
Granata pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in June.
The New Haven Register reports Granata will face trial by a three-judge panel instead of a 12-person jury. The date is set tentatively for Oct. 14-16.
