Brush fire in New Fairfield State Forest continues burning

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Fire departments from multiple towns battled a brush fire in a state forest in New Fairfield on Saturday that continued burning into Sunday.

Firefighters were back on scene Sunday to check for hot spots. But while firefighters thought they had it under control, it sparked back up.


According to First Selectman, Susan Chapman on Saturday, the brush fire was in the state forest off of Beaver Bog Road. No injuries were reported and no risk to any nearby homes.

Fire Departments from New Fairfield, Putnam Lake, Sherman, Patterson, and Danbury responded.
