Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro reacts to Paid Sick Leave

Rosa DeLauro

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)- Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro is reacting to President Obama’s executive order, which requires federal contractors to give paid sick leave to employees.

DeLauro has been pushing for paid sick leave as the author of the Healthy Families Act. That act would allow workers paid leave when they’re sick, when a family member is sick, for preventive care, to address impacts of domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault.

“The United States is the only developed country that does not require employers to offer paid sick days,” said DeLauro. “Not only is it in the best interest of the employee to take care of themselves or their family member, it benefits their colleagues and employers.”

DeLauro has introduced the Health Families Act in every congress since 2004.
